Thermal Management
To map real driving scenarios on the chassis dynamometer or engine test stand, it is necessary to reproduce a wide range of test conditions. This includes, in particular, testing under low ambient temperatures. Furthermore, the increasing electrification of individual mobility and the commercial vehicle sector requires the development and testing of thermal management systems. Thermal management systems are an essential part of the energy management system of modern drive systems. Electric drive components and fuel cell systems in particular are highly sensitive to thermal boundary conditions, which have a decisive impact on the overall efficiency of the vehicle. To reproduce real low-temperature conditions in a reproducible test environment, the infrastructure has been expanded to include appropriate components.
For the thermal analysis of powertrains and the development of thermal operating strategies, thermal boundary conditions can be mapped across a broad spectrum. The development objective of the low-temperature extension to the test benches was to achieve high energy efficiency, which, in addition to complete vehicle conditioning, also enables the encapsulation of individual drive units to be conditioned.
